Through
film, radio, and even politics, George Leroy Tirebiter's long
and distinguished career
has been, to say the least, long and distinguished.
Ironically, George may best known to modern
audiences from his appearances in the Firesign Theatre's oddly-named Don't
Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me The Pliers, and for his
candidacy as Surrealist Party Vice President in 1976.
It
is, perhaps, sad to note that the B-Movies, film shorts, and
youth comedies have all been lost to decaying acetate of the decaying
film-cans of decaying history. Classics like WHAT A FAMILY! (Argyle
Artists 1948)
which introduced the characters of Georgie and Mudhead to a generation.
Topical pictures such as STREET OF BROKEN GLASS (1954). And
what about his
sci-fi classics: NOMADS FROM NEPTUNE (in 3-D) and THE
BEAST FROM
UNDER THE BED (both Monotone Pictures, 1953) -- all lost to modern
viewers.
Fortunately, a treasure trove of audio and
radio performances has been unearthed, and is offered here as
The George Tirebiter
Collection. These priceless audio masters have been digitally mastered
and presented via the miracle of Compact Disc for your listening
pleasure.
