Dear Fellow Audio Theater Producer:

We are all painfully aware that outlets for our projects are few and far between...with an emphasis on the few. First we have to interest someone in the idea of a radio theater piece. Then we have to get past the various rejections: it's too short, it's too long, it's (fill in your favorite brush-off here).

Would you like to find a sympathetic ear? Colleagues who understand your work? No rejections? Well, if you're looking for two out of three of those, contact us at The Radio Works.

The Radio Works is an audio theater anthology series featuring the work of community-based, university-based, and professional producers from around the country. Each half-hour program provides the independent producer a unique opportunity to have their efforts showcased.

Now in its tenth season, The Radio Works is distributed nationally by SueMedia. The 26-week series and a variety of holiday and topical specials are available free of charge to all stations. Each program has unlimited air rights for one year.

Submission guidelines are simple:

1. Any length piece from 2:00 to 26:00 will be accepted. Sample episodes from series will also be accepted.

2. All programs must be submitted on cassette, CD or DAT tape.

3. A one-page description (including credits, etc.) must accompany all tapes.

Unless requested, submissions will not be returned.

The Radio Works' only screening criteria is that a submitted work demonstrate an interest [on the producer's part] in audio theater art. Anything (from SFX to works-in-progress to fully realized dramas) that uses the elements of radio theater in an interesting, unusual, or otherwise captivating way will be accepted. Rejections will be explained in writing and offer suggestions for improvement.

The Radio Works is seeking underwriting support to aid the series' growth - growth that will eventually include financial compensation for our contributing producers. Until then, we can offer you access to our ever-expanding national audience. Also, The Radio Works has recently been included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Television & Radio (formerly the Museum of Broadcasting) in New York City. This exposure may help you raise funds for your other projects.
